A sophisticated Blanc de Blancs made from carefully selected Chardonnay with numerous passes through the vineyard. Produced in the traditional method without shortcuts. The mousse is elegant, soft and creamy giving way to apple, citrus, stone fruits and brioche. The flavours are carried nicely by the persistent acidity, the finish is long.
A lively sparkling wine made from gently pressed Chardonnay grapes. Produced in the traditional method without shortcuts. The wine is bottled, aged on the lees for 24 months then hand disgorged without the addition of sugar (dosage), followed by hand labelling. A handmade, everyday fizz with refreshing granny smith apples, citrus and stone fruit on the palate finishing on a light biscuity character.
Anyone for Bubbles? As far as quality goes this is up there with the finest Champagne on the shelves, however it has such a crisp and easy drinking finish that its perfect for any occasion, so bring on some excuses to open the fizz…

An elegant Northern Rhône style of Syrah picked by hand from the highest altitude vineyard in Hawkes Bay. The aromas are distinctly blackberry, yet behind that they are somewhat gamey with notes of dark chocolate and cloves. Tannins are well integrated and balanced by soft acidity which lead towards flavours of white pepper, blackberries and tobacco. The finish is long!

Moving onto our final red wine varietal the extremely classy Reserve Syrah 2016, we also have a 2017 which is almost identical stylistically.

Stylistically similar to Pinot Noir, albeit slightly richer and positively rustic in comparison. This is a very good expression of the variety. The wine is well balanced with characteristically high acidity. It has a floral aroma, particularly violets that evolve towards black and red berries, hint of spice and liquorice. The medium body gives way to well integrated tannins, mouth-watering acidity and flavours of Morello cherries, violets & liquorice and a hint of leather. Each sip leaves you wanting more!
Hawkes Bay is not your first thought when thinking NZ Pinot Noir, Central Otago and Martinborough perhaps. A reasonably deep colour for Pinot. Blueberries aromas bound out of the glass and then mellow towards an earthier forest floor note. The palate seemed fairly fruit -forward and typically new world but has layers of complexity that finishes on notes of cloves and vanilla with a touch of white pepper. A delectable 2016 Pinot Noir!!
Our second wine from our very own de la vigne brand is once again from the magnificent @limerockwines – This Pinot Noir is selling well already due to Lime Rocks established reputation amongst experienced wine connoisseurs.
It is ripe and juicy, smokey with spice and dark fruit aromas and flavours, along with complex savoury and earth characters. A well balanced wine that has bright acid and texturered minerality, giving persistant length along with well-integrated, fine, chalky tannins.
But what does our sommelier have to say? Follow us to find out!
Tony Prichard certainly knows how to handle Chardonnay. Love the level of oak here. It’s more noticeable than the Reserve, but the texture and flavour intensity carry it so well. Ripe fleshy stone fruit is balanced by zesty citrus and the ‘leesy’ texture from occasional stirring. The limestone minerality comes through on the finish which is long lasting.
We would like to present a wine that changed the world of wines for Mrs CEO, who traditionally only desired Sauvignon Blanc and it had to be New Zealand to boot. Now, however, Anna enjoys nothing more than the wonderful ripe and fresh Chardonnay Barrique Ferment.
This wine is aptly named after the fun-loving ‘rescue’ dog called Gracie. Her exact mix of breed is unknown, but certainly has the best bits of character from each. Like Gracie the dog, the wine is a blend. A rather unusual blend of Chardonnay and Viognier, which Tony has managed to get the best out of both varieties. Although reasonably aromatic, it’s perfect to drink on its own. A simple, refreshing combination of stone and tropical fruits. It is a quaffable wine which should be enjoyed leading up to the meal, so chill a few bottles to share amongst friends!
It is unusual to taste new world Sauvignon Blanc with some bottle age and for a 2015 vintage this wine is phenomenal; it has notable energy and surprisingly persistent acidity (for the age that is). The mineral texture of this wine is crunchy but turns into silk on the palate. An elegant wine that is very complex! The classic green vegetal flavours are harmonised with gooseberries, citrus fruit and tropical fruit nuances with minerality that shines on the finish. The wine has length. In the glass…Old world meets new world in perfect harmony. Mirrors Sancerre Mont Damnes’ quality and complexity at a fraction of the price.
