Style Notes & Key Points
- We named this wine after our winery dog. Gracie is a fresh, lively, unoaked, unpretentious little wine. Like Gracie our dog, Gracie the wine is a blend (of 2 of our white varieties, Chardonnay and Viognier). A simple but very aromatic fruit-driven wine where we have intentionally harnessed the more floral and aromatic spectrum of each of the varieties. More an aperitif style wine.
- Hand-picked, clean grapes and gentle pressing means the wine is well set up for slow and elegant aging.
- Estate bottled and hand-labelled.
Tasting Notes
A very aromatic fruit-driven wine. Very fragrant and perfumed showing a marriage of tropical and stonefruit characters. Simple, clean, unpretentious.
The palate is full and luscious. Lovely balance of fruit and acidity. Important to serve quite chilled to enhance the freshness/vibrancy. Elegant lingering finish.
Secret Sommelier’s Comments
This wine is aptly named after the fun-loving โrescueโ dog called Gracie. Her exact mix of breed is unknown, but certainly has the best bits of character from each. Like Gracie the dog, the wine is a blend. A rather unusual blend of Chardonnay and Viognier, which Tony has managed to get the best out of both varieties. Although reasonably aromatic, itโs perfect to drink on its own. A simple, refreshing combination of stone and tropical fruits. It is a quaffable wine which should be enjoyed leading up to the meal, so chill a few bottles to share amongst friends!
